  • Older travelers

Interesting historic hotel in good position for investigating the local area. Convenient and very resonable

  • Older travelers

the hotel was welcoming ,clean, and ideally situated.our room was very spacious with a very comfortable large bed and a lovely clean bathroom.the staff were friendly and the breakfast delightful and filling.

the heating was not put on in the evenings we stayed at the hotel and it was rather cold in the bedroom.strangely on the morrning we were departing the heating was on! there was no welcome pack in the room telling us about the hotel, its facilities, details about breakfast etc

  • Older travelers

It was more a pub than a hotel and the reception was just a hatch under the stairs and the rooms were accessed via a door next to it whcih was all situated in the bar. The food was good although basic. Our room was fantastic, large and light with views to die for. We had a good stay.

Nothing it is just about managing peoples expectations - was fully expecting a proper reception area - which would have been manned. They were a bit understaffed.

  • Group of friends

The room and ensuite were clean and the beds comfortable, it had obviously been recently refurbished.

The breakfast was served rather late, and it seemed to be an inconvenience to be negotiated if required earlier, even though this was supposedly an option. Bathroom door did not latch.

  • Family with children

The dinner menu was impressive such that my 40 year old son had to try two puddings and now he wants the recipes!

The website advised check in was 1400 but when we turned up at 1420 the "welcome" left a bit to be desired as the rooms were still being serviced.

  • Couple

The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom was very nice.

The food served at the hotel was not up to the standard I would have liked.

  • Couple

The hotel was comfortable with a nice bathroom and comfortable bed. Basic facilities but fine for the price. Excellent breakfast.

We stayed on a Saturday night and the bar downstairs had a karaoke going on until just after midnight - we weren't too bothered by it as we were awake anyway but just to warn other guests to the potential disturbance! The staff were not particularly helpful.

  • Single

I found the hotel staff freindly and helpful and always prefer smaller hotels.

  • Group of friends

We were a little bewilded when we arrived. But there was one member of staff who stood out, and went out his way to do what he could to make our stay a pleasure, if it wasn't for Mathew i'm not sure we wouldn't of enjoyed our stay as much, the rooms were lovely and the breakfast was fine, probably the only thing I feel they could improve on is entertainment in the bar as there isnt that much to do in the evenings in the area, with out driving or catching a cab, we would stay again.

  • Group of friends

One of our party had a fsll and the hotel staff were most helpful, calling an ambulance.Theis came and dealt with the minor injuries very effecianlty, calling another paramedic to do administer some "glue" to the cut on the head. Good service all round, good breakfast freshly cooked, unlike so many modern hotels of a higher calibre who serve a " buffet breakfast, scrambled eggs sitting under a warming light, instead of made to order. Very rerasonable priced food in the reastaurant, starters ander £5.00, dearest main course under £15.00.

  • Group of friends

Good location for visiting Derbyshire tourism and countryside in a small town with good restaurants close by. Historic building too. Interesting village with industrial heritage.

Chef was on duty at sister pub round the corner, the ambiance of the Market Place restaurant suited us better than the Boat Inn and was only about 50metres away from the front door of the Greyhound

  • Older travelers

    The enviorons.

  • Older travelers

Very comfortable room, very friendly staff. Could recommend to friends.

Traffic noise was a minor issue, but did not spoil the stay. Sound proofing would help.

  • Older travelers

The hotel staff were very helpful and the food in the restaurant was excellent although a little to much on the plate. The hotel was ideally situated for us as we were attending a function in Shottle near by. It was good value for money.

  • Family with children

This is a great location for exploring Derbyshire and the staff are very warm and welcoming.
